The idea behind Minimii came about in 2007, when Linda Stenberg, a busy mum with 3 children, was looking for a doll's house for her children. At the time she could only find many boring houses that were either American or Victorian in appearance. She though "It can't be true that most dollhouses don't look very "Danish". It has to be more like our own home…". She became excited by the idea of creating a Danish high-quality doll's house that both herself and her children would find attractive. She thought "who is the most representative of Danish design other than Arne Jacobsen?" Arne Jacobsen's own house in Charlottenlund is the first example of his 'functionalist' style, for which he has since become world famous. It works well in miniature, which is why Arne Jacobsen's descendants have given their blessing to the project and provided the original house's plans and kept in close dialogue with Minimii.
Modern houses needs chic furniture. Since they couldn't be found on the market Linda made contact with Fritz Hansen who fortunately were very openminded and interested in the idea of Arne Jacobsen's furniture in miniature.
The miniature furniture has been received with great enthusiasm from customers all around the world, this confirmed that little idea back in 2007 was a great one.
Minimii's goal is to deliver dollhouses and miniature houses with furniture and accessories designed by international well known architects and designers; products that appeal to kids imagination and their parents sense of quality.
